Dec. 14, 2005 - Freedom of Speech + Links

Definition of a Hippie: a usually young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic
I don't know if I necessarily agree with Webster's description of a hippie. If I were to define the term, I would say that a hippie is someone who practices individuality, thinks outside of the box, and uses the most outstanding right we were ever given in this country which is freedom of speech.
I'm giving away my age by saying this, but I grew up around hippies and bikers and I guess you could say that their attitudes, styles, and philosophies are embedded in me. I don't enjoy following society's idea of how a person should live and I believe I have the right to do and say how I please as long as it isn't hurting anyone else.
I have the deepest admiration and respect for those who came before me and had the courage to speak out, do something different, and make changes for us all -- and for those who continue to do so. This entry is dedicated to those people!
I have to include some web links with this entry. I welcome any additional sites that focus on freedom of speech and/or making a positive difference in the world.
P.S... In case you are one of those people who are wondering why I
would include links to Larry Flynt and Howard Stern because
their forums disgust you, it is men like these who go to the
extreme to keep your right to free speech alive. Never forget
that!
