Aug. 12, 2005 - Another Day |
My heart sank yesterday when I read that there were more Casualties in Iraq and some were from PA. My Prayers go out to those families who lost the ones close to them. I know that feeling all to well, sitting here on the edge of my seat waiting for the return of my son and hopes he is ok everyday until his return. He made my day with a phone call home to say that he was alright. They have "Black Outs" when someone is killed close to where they are. (no one can call anyone or get on a computer).
This is so word gets to the family from the source and not word of mouth.

Rickie's cat (Fluffy)...
I keep telling him I'm putting his cat in a box and shipping him out to Iraq (No, I wouldn't do that) . He has to be on your lap...at all times. He sleeps on Ricks bed, on his chair, in his clothes basket, draw if it's left open...anything that's Ricks. |

Aug. 11, 2005 - Poem |
While surfing the net I came accross this Poem. How true it sounds; brought tears to my eyes.
|
Poem Title: My Son
I remember when you were a little boy All those toys strewn on my floor I remember when you would go out to play and bring to me those bugs for display I remember when you fell and scraped your knee you always cried for me to come and see I remember when you started grade one I kept back the tears that day my son I remember the times we would share a good book and the times I tried to teach you how to cook Those were the days in which I do treasure you're all grown up now but my little boy forever

Jul. 24, 2005 - Story in Tampa Newspaper |
Story in Tampa Newspaper
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice?????? Think about it . .
All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural communit y has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speakENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it!
AMEN

Jul. 21, 2005 - My Hero |
My Only Son , My Only Child is My Hero! (Rick's Home on the Web)
Rick is in Iraq and I miss him very much. If it wasn't for working out of the house grave yard shift... I wouldn't sleep at night. With taking care of my feathered children, work , and all that other stuff to do... I keep myself occupied to pass the time until he comes home.
Rick graduated from high school in 2003 and attended college in Mansfield, PA until he was deployed in January 2005.
I am a very proud Mom. He is a very smart young man. Loves to make people laugh...would cheer you up fast if you were feeling down. I really miss that right now.
He met this wonderful person... in or around 9th grade. They have been very best of friends and just finally hooked up and are engaged. Jessica is the one for him... a wonderful person to be around. He made the right choice when picking my Future-daughter-inlaw. She just recently joined the Army National Guard and will be leaving in August for Basic Training. I'm going to miss her while she's gone.

Jul. 21, 2005 - My Blog - A Bit about me. |
Ok, I'm not much of a writer... this Blog thing seems to be the thing now days.
I'm a mother to over 100 Parrots and one human child.
My hobby started over 10 years ago with a cockatiel named Charlie. I guess you could say I really got bit by that bird bug when I got my first Congo African Grey, Maxine. I wanted a pet parrot that I could hold, play with, and spoil. She fell for Dad. Within 6 months I got Clyde (a Timneh African Grey) sent from FL. She loved Mom and anyone that would play with her.
While at work I found an add in the paper for Congo Grey breeders. I phoned the people and went up to see them. I purchased 2 pairs of Congo's and a pair of Timnehs from the nicest people. I also learned alot from them. The story is a long one from there.... Amazons, Cockatoos, Macaws, Eclectus, Plum Heads, Conures and more... I couldn't help myself...lol.
My feathered children get fed very well. Pelletts, seeds, fruit, veggies, and treats. They also get toys. Even the breeders! I spet tons of money trying to keep those big birds in toys. They would chew one up within a matter of days. I started searching for wholesale parts and decided to make my own. I now own and opperate a small Online Toy Store.
I wouldn't say I'm an expert at this bird/parrot thing. I'm always learning something new. Just one of the many things I enjoy.
